On Saturday my wife and my self went to see the film Unnai Pol Oruvan. I have watched the Hindi movie “Wednesday”. Because of that I know the story well. My wife is a die hard fan of Kamal Hassan, so she wants to watch the movie in a theatre.
The movie starts with Mohan Lal wandering in the beach with his dog. On that occasion he thinks about the reason for dismissal from his job. From there the story starts. The movie is a ditto of the Hindi movie. In Hindi, Anupam kher sitting in his chair facing the sea thinks about all, the Wednesday when all the things happened and in Tamil, Mohan Lal thinks back to fetch the story.
The bags which are placed in various locations by Kamal Hassan keep everyone full in suspense which helps to go through the film. Kamal Hassan calls himself as common man and went to market buy 3 Kg of tomato. Common man will buy 3 Kg of tomato but if one tomato fell down, he will ask for that shop keeper to put that in the basket. Thus the common man image is not understandable. Anyway the movie’s tempo keeps going nice.
Then he calls up the IG Marar saying that he had placed 5 bombs in various locations in Chennai. It will go off at exact 6 pm if his needs not fulfilled. He then asks IG to assemble four prisoners from different jails at one location. One man got airlifted from
Kamal Hassan tells that he want to release them and all taken to the airport. The police officer, Arrif, who was in charge, did a decent job to keep the movie alive.
For everyone’s surprise the Kamal Hassan want to release the prisoner, not live but to kill. He made them to sit in a jeep and it got explodes after they switch on the jeep.
All together the movie tells about the common man thinking after facing so many different terror attacks. The movie ends with a back ground song saying I am the new face of terror.
Shruthi Hassan did a decent job with music of the movie. Chakri did a good job to keep the superstars a simple common man and a normal IG of Police. Mohan Lal performed well in the movie, if I say the most of the spot light was on him only.
This movie is a watch able one. Enjoy the movie that goes very fast without any songs.
